Byron Bay ‘Ocean funk & mountain folk’ duo ‘Mark Ridout & the Rhythm’ play rousing folk/reggae and funk tunes inspired by love, nature and self discovery.
Born in London, Singer songwriter Mark Ridout cut his teeth supporting the likes of Ed Sheeran and Kate Miller Heidke, playing reknowned UK venues such as The Troubadour and The Bedford, and touring the United States and India before moving to live in Australia 7 years ago. His voice has been described as “hugely expressive” (Hotpress magazine, UK), and his song ‘All My Sides’ featured on Australian indie feature film ‘Weevil’. He has also worked facilitating creative music programs for the mental health service in Australia and in the UK.
Damo has toured with all sorts of bands at the top of their game along the including; Dubarray & Cheap Fakes, always spreading the love and celebrating life.
Having played Splendour in the Grass (AU), Byron bay Surf Fest (AU) and Brighton Fringe Festival (UK), this vibrant duo continue to share their debut EP ‘Dive into the Water’ recorded in Byron by Jordan Power (Xavier Rudd, Angus Stone). These two men clearly share a deep kinship and chemistry. They play with a sense of purpose and a rare blend of confidence and open vulnerability.
