Nick Cunningham’s second EP “In Between was released on 19th January 2018.”
Nick Cunningham is a South Australian singer songwriter who is beginning to make waves in the Australian music scene. Over the past two years Nick has performed twice at the Splendour in the grass festival as well as winning the Byron Bay raw artist “Musician Of The Year” for his performances throughout Northern NSW. He writes of heartfelt stories from a troubled youth and tells them with his hypnotic melodies and soothing vocals. His ability to tell honest stories in the way he does has taken Nick around the country where he has captivated sold out audiences throughout the past 12 months.
Growing up in the fishing town of Port Lincoln Nicks childhood was spent back and forth between his grandparents farm and his Mothers house in town. He could wander free on the 13,000 acres stretched along some of the most beautiful coastline South Australia has to offer. It was this time with his grandfather in that he gained his love for music and more specifically, acoustic songwriting. As a talented sportsman in high school he found himself with the opportunity to study in Adelaide at the specialist sporting school Henley High.
Music became a way for Nick to relax and step away from the stresses of his sporting commitments for many years. It wasn’t until he found himself in Byron Bay taking a break from his sporting life that he started to write music. He began busking on street corners and at cafes around the iconic town and from this he began to build a following of loyal fans who eagerly awaited the release of his debut EP “Letters”.
“Letters” was recorded by producer Jordan Power (U2, Xavier Rudd, Angus Stone) at the Byron Bay warehouse studio Inky and was released late in 2015. It debuted on Itunes at number 40 and has since reached number 2 on the singer songwriter charts. With 6 songs on the EP they all give insight into the life of Nick Cunningham.
