The 12th Annual Byron Bay Film Festival – Day 3

BBFF2018 at Byron Theatre

Day 3 – Sunday 14 October

 11.00am – A Little Wisdom

A Little Wisdom is Mongolian director Yuqi Kang’s intimately observed portrait of orphaned monks living in an isolated monastery in Lumbini, Nepal. Here, in the birthplace of Buddha, we follow the daily routine of five-year-old novice monk Hopakuli, who has been at the monastery since he was two. A Little Wisdom reveals the contradictions between Hopakuli’s austere monastic upbringing and a child’s natural fascination with the world beyond.

1.30pm – More Human Than Human

More Human Than Human explores the promises and the complex role of Artificial Intelligence in today’s world and the consequences of those promises becoming reality. In this feature length documentary the filmmaker attempts to build an intelligent robot to see if it can replace him as the film director. Will our creation, infinitely smarter, interconnected and possibly self aware render humanity obsolete?
